Vice President of Cattle and Farm Operations
Gustavo Moglia Dutra is the Vice President of Cattle Operations of Black Opal. His duties entail the management of the cow/calf herd and finishing operations of the company. He is also in charge of acquisitions for the processing aspect of Black Opal. The emphasis of his job has always been based on management systems focused on results.
His prior experience includes working in Sales in Defer & Roulier; being the founding partner of Assessoria Agropecuaria Marcon Consulting Agricultural Company; the Director of Purchasing and Agriculture Extension of Frigorifico Mercosul; and Managing Santa Marcarida Ranch, founded by his great grandfather. He is a 4th generation Cattle Rancher.
He was one of the founders and Director of Apropampa, Associação dos Produtores de Carne do Pampa Gaúcho da Campanha Meridional, responsible of the creation of Origen of Beef in Brazil; and also on the Board of Directors of the Associação e Sindicato Rural de Bagé.
Dr. Dutra has a Degree in Agronomy from the Universidade da Regiao de Campanhas and a Masters Degree in Agronomy from the Universidade Federal de Pelotas.
